Campus: Centennial Hall

UW – La Crosse

The new 188,000 square foot academic building is strategically positioned at the center of the campus. The project will provide state-of-the-art general access classrooms and select departments to support the mission of the university. Over sixty percent of the facility is occupied by 46 classrooms, ranging in size from 40 seats to 250 seat auditoriums, equipped with the latest educational technology.

The design of the building incorporates the principles of sustainable design and is pursuing a United States Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED Silver rating. The C-shaped floor plan and building facades are designed to harvest as much natural light as possible to reduce the need for artificial illumination. The building envelope and systems are designed to be 30% more energy efficient than the current State of Wisconsin Energy Code. The exterior design reinterprets the UW-La Crosse’s favored collegiate gothic style and uses the familiar campus palette of brick with cut stone accents.
