Valentine J. Schute, Jr., AIA

Founder + Principal

Val founded the firm in 1981. He has carefully led its growth and development through successful client relationships and innovative projects. Val specializes in campus, liturgical, historic, and library design, and has worked on projects covering a wide array of sizes in the tri-state area. He uses a unique blend of creativity and collaboration to differentiate his work.

Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, Val currently sits on the Board of Directors for Taliesin Preservation Inc., and has been a governor-appointed architect on the Wisconsin Historical Society Review Board for more than three decades. He is also a past president of the La Crosse Area YMCA, United Fund for the Arts and Humanities, and Pump House Regional Arts Center.

When he’s not in the studio, Val exercises regularly and enjoys reading, spending time with his grandsons, and cheering for any University of Notre Dame and Philadelphia sports team.
