Campus

To keep up with growing enrollment numbers in the physical and life sciences programs, the Prairie Springs Science Center was designed to deliver adequate faculty and student research spaces.

The large project scope could not be delivered in a single phase, and a two-phase approach was approved. Phase 1 was completed in 2018 on a parking lot adjacent to Cowley Hall. Phase 2 is currently in progress and will demolish the 54-year-old Cowley Hall to make way for the second phase.

Phase 2 will include offices, classrooms, instructional labs, research labs, and a number of highly-specialized spaces critical to the overall delivery of science instruction and learning at UW-La Crosse.

The entire complex is designed to look as if it was built at one time. Phase 2 will be developed so when both phases are complete, the overall building blends seamlessly into the existing campus context.
