Commercial: Eco-Park
Nature Center

La Crosse, WI

Nestled along the edge of the La Crosse River Marsh, the new Myrick-Hixon Eco Park Nature Center provides an educational sanctuary for a variety of animal species native to the Coulee region. The building is the first phase of a visionary master plan to combine the Nature Center with the Myrick Zoo. The Nature Center is the epicenter for indoor exhibits and activities. Great care was taken in choosing environmentally friendly construction materials and finishes. As a result, stained wheat board and polished concrete are among the sustainable products found in the facility.

An open two story gallery greets visitors with stone clad walls, a soaring ceiling, and views out to the marsh. An adjacent multi-purpose space, with serving kitchen, provides an opportunity for the community and staff to utilize the building for educational and private functions. A gift-shop, staff offices, and exhibit spaces round out the programmatic spaces found within the building.
