Altra Federal Credit Union Operations Center

Onalaska, WI

The three-story addition to the Altra Federal Credit Union Operations Center in Onalaska features a seamless design, blending beautifully with the original 45,000-square-foot office space. Developed to incorporate growth for the next 15 years, the addition features a large meeting/training room with a dividing wall, video conferencing capabilities, and direct access to a break room. A new call center, large outdoor patios, and a bright two-story lobby were designed with employee comfort and convenience in mind. A fitness center was included, complete with employee locker rooms.

The entire project was based on a Master Plan designed by River Architects to incorporate any future building and parking needs that may occur as the company expands on its 15-acre commercial site.

Creative usage of natural light was incorporated throughout the addition, utilizing borrowed light techniques to bathe interior spaces, and a clerestory window washes the center of the addition in natural light throughout the day. Daylighting was also brought into the lower level, optimizing the usage of an area that is sometimes overlooked. Upon completion of the addition, work was done in the original building to further enhance the melding of the two spaces.  The entire building features new highly efficient mechanical and electrical systems, and ground water is managed effectively on site.
