Other than interior changes, the original church has remained untouched since 1857. The focus of the 12,430-square foot addition and 5,350-square foot renovation was to preserve as much of the existing structure as possible, maintaining and respecting the integrity of the building design and its character while meeting the necessary demands of a parish church for today and the near future.
The one-year project increased seating capacity to approximately 520 people. The addition to the east of the existing church added a gathering and overflow area, a sacristy adjacent to the church, a multi-purpose room to seat 125 persons at the lower level, restrooms, and storage on both levels. The entire church is now barrier-free accessible throughout.
