River Architects Principal Valentine J. Schute, Jr., AIA, joined the Southeastern Wisconsin Libraries series on Wisconsin Library Buildings and Spaces, a resource for Wisconsin public library directors, staff and trustees about library building and renovation projects.
Val was joined by Emily Kornak, Lake Geneva (WI) Public Library, and Jessica Bergen, Carnegie-Schadde Memorial Public Library in Baraboo (WI), for “Valuing Old, Existing, and Historic Library Buildings.” Panelists presented considerations for preserving the historic value of a community’s public library building when working on renovation and expansion projects.
Since its first library project in 1983, River Architects has completed projects on more than 20 libraries in the tri-state area, including the La Crosse Public Library, Rosemary Garfoot Library (Cross Plains, Wis.), Shirley M. Wright Memorial Library (Trempealeau, Wis.), Hatch Memorial Library (Mauston, Wis.), Black River Falls Public Library, and Somerset Public Library.
